The Arlington Advocate Is No More

The Arlington Advocate, Arlington’s newspaper that covered stories in this town for 151 years, underwent a name change. As of May 12th, it became The Advocate & Star, a merger of the printed word between the towns of Arlington and Winchester. The Gannett Corporation of McLean, Virginia owns this storied Arlington newspaper.

Bob Sprague, Editor of YourArlington.com, talked to ACMi News about this unsettling name change, Gannett’s take on “hyper-local” news coverage, and how Arlington residents have become seemingly isolated from what was once a credible and compelling weekly newspaper.
