In this time of fast-flowing information, shorter news cycles and media conglomeration, there has been an overall drop in coverage of local events by mainstream media. Distinctive local news and programming is becoming far more important than ever, and Arlington Public News embraces the opportunity to help fill this need. We can only do so, however, with the help of talented and dedicated volunteers, just like YOU (or someone you know!).
At this OPEN HOUSE, you can meet many members of the APN team and learn how to take part in the exciting developments at APN and ACMi.
Our featured speaker is veteran television producer/director Joel Olicker, CEO and co-founder of Somerville-based Powderhouse Productions, the largest independent producer of television in New England. Joel will be presenting on
“Writing and Storytelling for TV and Video”
You will also hear from various Citizen Journalists about their work at APN – the programs they have created, the skills they have honed, and the joys and camaraderie they have experienced. And you will find out just how easy it is to join us as we continue to build community awareness, understanding, and connection – all while developing your own skills in media production!
