(Belatedly) Introducing ACMi’s Summer Interns

We neglected to follow our customary procedure of asking our Interns to introduce themselves to the ACMi community at the start of their internships. On the theory of “better late than never,” we are doing so now, a little more than half-way through their tenures. Starting with the Interns included below, we will post the introductions over the next little while…

My name is Kayla Chiara. Being a lifelong Arlington resident,  I am happy to contribute to the community in a way that allows me to be a storyteller. My intrinsic love for film and art has led to my interest in all aspects of video production. I enjoy being heavily involved in the creative and formative process as I aspire to become an actor, screenwriter, and artistic director. I am currently a Communications major at UMass Boston, with a minor in Cinema Studies. I am grateful to be at ACMi and find new ways to challenge myself through different mediums and storytelling methods.

Hi, I’m Tannie Tang, a rising senior studying Business and Film studies at Brandeis University. As a result of my devotion for moving pictures, I’ve always wanted to work in the film/television entertainment industry to pursue my passion. I enjoy cinematography, editing, graphics and all the creative technical work involved in video production. Through interning at Arlington Community Media, I hope to make the most of this opportunity to experience studio and news production in a hands-on learning environment.

Hi there! I’m Zach Merchant and I’m going to be a senior at Tufts in the fall. In school, I study political science and business. Outside of the classroom, I spend most of my time on the Mystic River rowing for the Tufts men’s rowing team. I’ve always been passionate about journalism, and working at ACMi has offered me a chance to take that passion and put it to work—I’m looking forward to what lies in store this summer!

Hi everyone! My name is Stephanie Gordon and I am a recent graduate of Emerson College, where I earned my Bachelor’s in Visual Media Arts Producing. During my time at Emerson, I was a segment producer for two Emerson Channel shows – College Kitchen and Common Agenda. In addition, I served as a script analyst intern for YouGoFar Productions last summer. That internship reaffirmed my passion for storytelling, as well as for the pre-production areas of media making. This is what led me to ACMi, where I hope to strengthen my producing abilities and learn new skills. I feel fortunate to work in both news and narrative television, since I will get to tell stories that are important to this community, which I’m sure will be incredibly rewarding.

My name is Jacob Ballin. As an Arlington resident and former ACMi member, I am excited to return to ACMi as a summer intern. My lifelong interest in photography and love for technology has recently led me to explore opportunities in filmmaking and TV production. I am currently attending Champlain College as a filmmaking major, but am hoping to learn more about TV production through interning at ACMi. I am proud to be a part of a team that shares a passion for video production and communication with the Arlington community.

IMG_6090My name is Emily Baker, and I’m a rising junior at Tufts University, majoring in sociology. As an ACMi production intern, I’m looking forward to supplementing my interest in television writing and production by further developing my technical camera and editing skills. My plan is to produce segments for Arlington Public News, as well as to work on personal comedy projects.

Hi, I am Liangzi (Lares) Xu, and I am studying journalism at Emerson College. I am doing the internship at ACMi this summer in order to hone my editing and production abilities. I am sure that I will enjoy working with the staff and other interns.

My name is Shaz Sajadi, and I’m from Tehran, Iran. I moved to Massachusetts two years ago to get my master’s degree in journalism at Emerson College. In Tehran, I worked as a freelance reporter for a lifestyle magazine, and after moving to the U.S., I started writing for the Iranian-American Women’s Foundation. As an Arlington resident, I’m looking forward to learning more about the town and the Arlington community as a news intern at ACMi’s news division, Arlington Public News.
