It’s the 250th Anniversary – Don’t Miss It!

This weekend, Arlington is joining its neighboring communities of Lexington and Concord in celebrating the 250th Anniversary of the start of the American Revolution, considered by many to be the most significant political revolution in human history.

On Sunday, April 20, starting at 2 pm, the bloody Battle of Menotomy (as Arlington was known at the time) will be reenacted along to stretch of Mass Ave extending from Arlington High School to Town Hall. This is the path the British forces took in retreating from Concord and Lexington, and they were constantly ambushed along the way by local Minutemen.

Several of those ambushes will be re-created, including the conflict that took place on the grounds of the Jason Russell House, a battle that claimed more lives than any other in those initial days.

ACMi will be providing live coverage of the Reenactment, and you can access it by clicking below.

Arlington holds its own special place in the events at the core of the creation of the United States of America – join us as we step back in time to commemorate the brutal majesty of those events!
