It’s November, often a challenging time of year, what with the light fading quickly and the winds blowing briskly. At ACMi, we find that the solution to successfully navigating these choppy waters is pretty much to do what we always do – stay very busy creating, informing, educating, and entertaining. And as always we warmly invite you to join us in any and all of these activities!
Welcome Lesley!
We are genuinely excited to announce that we have hired our first ever Development Director! Lesley Norman brings a remarkable breadth of experience from her four decades as an experienced public television executive. She has been a Senior Producer, an Executive in Charge, a Vice President, a Chief Operating Officer, and an Executive Producer for a tremendous variety of programs, series, and production companies. A much abbreviated list of some of those would include Inside the Met; Boss: The Black Experience in Business; The Secret Life of the Brain; and Abraham and Mary Lincoln: A House Divided. You very well may have seen some of Lesley’s work yourself over the years!
Lesley has obviously been a heavy hitter in the world of public television for many years, and ACMi is fortunate to catch her at a time in her career when she is interested in a more local focus. Raising the funds to support the projects she has been involved with over the decades has been a constant for Lesley, and she brings both that wealth of experience and a real belief in the value of community media to the position of Director of Development at ACMi.
Welcome Josh!
We are delighted to welcome Josh Guicherit as our new Administrative Assistant/Production Assistant. From the moment he walked into the studio a couple of months ago as a new resident interested in volunteering, Josh has impressed us with his dedication to community media, his considerable production skills, and his cheerful approach to every assignment. We feel very lucky to have him aboard, and very excited to have you all meet him.
With a history in visual and performance art and a keen interest in fostering artistic communities, Josh discovered ACMi while seeking work in Massachusetts that could make use of his background in theatre, multimedia, marketing, and public relations. He had briefly joined public access media in southern California, and loved connecting with members from an organization empowering local arts and education. Since then, Josh has been a freelancer working on short films, photo shoots, promotional videos, and other creative endeavors whenever he has had the chance. In his spare time, Josh still enjoys supporting local artists and driving around to experience places he’s never been. Keep an eye on the ACMi public channel for Josh’s own productions too!
A Tasty New Documentary Series
ACMi member and documentary maker Andy Takats is a beer lover, and for him the “craftier” the better. He has often found himself sipping a cold one and wondering, “What Goes Into that Pint Glass?” In his multi-part documentary series chronicling the story of the Arlington Brewing Company and the craft brewery (Arlington’s first!) it hopes to open in 2026, Andy seeks to answer that question in a number of ways. From financing bumps to regulatory hurdles, from architecting the site to the chemical challenges of the brewing process itself, “What Goes Into that Pint Glass” will provide viewers with an inside look at this work in progress as it develops. Scheduled to roll out in multiple episodes over the coming months, the first chapter will begin airing in mid-November. Check out this teaser for a “taste” of what’s to come!
