Horizons: DNA – The Building Blocks of Life

The 20th century discovery of DNA, the building blocks of life, marks the emergence of the new science of biology. This is the remarkable saga of the competition for the discovery of the structure of the DNA molecule and the Watson-Crick model and its explanation of how the genetic code passed on traits from generation to generation. This seminal discovery would lead to the emergence of modern cell biology, genetics, proteomics and many other fields of endeavor.
