Wide Angle: Episode 21 – Local Solutions to Global Challenges

In late August of 2015, Peter’s guest began a four-and-a-half month, 12,000-mile journey around the US. Her objective: to seek out ordinary people and communities who were tackling the challenges that confront us: climate change, racism, economic inequality to name a few. What she found were locally-rooted efforts doing just that: resisting fracking, confronting the silence of hate crime complicity, and rebuilding impoverished communities.
Joining Peter from her home near Seattle to share what she found on that trip is Sarah van Gelder, the co-founder and editor-at-large of Yes! magazine, as well as the author of the new book, The Revolution Where You Live: Stories from a 12,000-Mile Journey Through a New America.
