In ancient Greece and Rome, cultures from which our own borrowed heavily, homosexuality was a fixture. The Talmud refers to six different sexes, not just the two many note today. Still other societies regard variations in gender expression as commonplace. Yet we in the US continue to struggle to fully accept those who fall outside the binary norm.
