Meet Vivien Tang, the founder of the Cancer Patients & Survivors Project 2023 (CPSP2023), who continues to fight stage four cancer. CPSP2023 focuses on providing programs to help ease others’ journeys to survivorship by providing information and direct support.Â
Vivien connected with Arlington Community Media (ACMi) to build her organization’s outreach and amplify her message. In support of Vivien’s goals, ACMi invited her for a sit-down interview, and in turn began discussing ideas about how to further collaborate.
Since 2023, she has experienced multiple rounds of radiation treatments and chemotherapy, which has given her a deep understanding of the struggles that all cancer patients encounter and the desire to use what she has learned to improve other patients’ lives. As she continues her fight against cancer, Vivien is utilizing her non-profit organization, CPSP2023, as a platform to support other cancer patients in their own journeys of recovery.
CPSP2023 publishes a newsletter, the Ginkgo Leaf, twice a year, which includes information about easy-to-prepare meals, cancer-related news, and healing practices, such as yoga. The non-profit also seeks to provide “buddies” for those battling stage-four cancer, as well as the kinds of kitchen appliances (blenders, food processors, etc.) that are essential for cancer patients’ daily food intake.
As a result of the initial interview, Vivien has volunteered her time every week at ACMi, and we continue to work together to bring her ideas to life. Vivien will be co-producing a new series exploring effective healing methods, which will air on our channels and be posted on the website. As Vivien continues to bring more programs and resources to life for all cancer patients and survivors, she wants her fellow cancer-fighters to know this: “You are not alone in your cancer-recovery journey towards survivorship!”Â
