The film “Mill Work” follows the action in the 1860s Arlington picture frame manufactory as woodturner David Graf shapes an oval frame from start to finish using original Old Schwamb Mill wood-turning lathes and chisels. Focus is on the ingenious equipment, the immigrant Schwamb brothers, the employees, and finally the mill’s near-death when the family business closed in 1969.
Congratulations to Tom Calderwood and Reed Snyder, director and producer of the documentary film “Mill Work,” who were recognized by the Alliance for Community Media’s Hometown Media Awards in the category of “Independent Producer Winners for Documentary Biography.”
