MLK Birthday Observance in Arlington Hits Its 31st Year
One of the more popular and memorable events of every calendar year in Arlington is the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Observance celebration that takes place in the main auditorium at Town Hall. This is the commemoration’s 31st anniversary, and ACMi will be there to carry the event LIVE. By tuning in on the Public channel, you can join those gathering to celebrate this American icon for his wisdom, his grace, and his incalculable contributions to the advancement of civil rights in the country. And if you miss it the first time, you’ll find it re-airing over the coming weeks on the same channel.
Ferris Bueller as You’ve Never Seen Him
A particularly fun project that ACMi has been involved in over the last couple of years is Crowdsourced Boston. The idea behind it is to take a cherished film classic of the not-too-distant past and have community media centers from all over Massachusetts sign up to replicate individual scenes from that particular movie. Then all those scenes are stitched together to create a “crowdsourced” version of the original film. ACMi’s in-house production group, Studio Knights (which meets every Wednesday night and is open to all), took the reins for our contribution to this year’s (re)production of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, the beloved John Hughes movie from the mid-80s. This week we are debuting the finished film on our Public channel, and it’s a real hoot – see for yourself!
ACMi Adds AHS Wrestling to Sports Coverage
The 2018-2019 school year promises to offer ACMi’s most comprehensive coverage ever of Arlington High School sports, with multiple games being captured and presented on a weekly basis throughout the year. As proud as we are to provide this benefit to the community, we refuse to get complacent. With that in mind, this winter season we are excited to announce that, after a long absence, AHS Wrestling has come off the mat and returned to our schedule! As with all the rest of our coverage, multi-cam shoots in brilliant HD put you right in the middle of the action and the competitive intensity. Look for all the matches, as well as our weekly hockey and basketball games, on the Education channel – Go Ponder Sports!
