The United States has only 5% of the world’s population, but it has nearly 25% of its prisoners. Roughly two million people incarcerated. And the Bureau of Justice Statistics says out of that two million, nearly 10% are U.S. veterans who served their country only to fall thru the cracks.
But one area lock-up is employing entirely new techniques that are serving as models for prisons, not only in America but around the world.
APN’s Jeff Barnd reports on one prototype program for veterans that strips away the dark stigma of incarceration and helps those who served our country look to a brighter future.
