Upon adopting the Complete Streets policy, Arlington is now committed to making the town more biker and walker friendly and the town hopes to receive some funding from the state for the projects that meet the Complete Streets standards.
After completing the Mass Ave Phase 1 Project that added designated bike lanes to the streets from the Cambridge city line to Pond Lane, the Department of Public Works and the Planning Department are partnering to come up with designs to make Arlington Center and Broadway Plaza more vibrant. The plan calls for increased sidewalk dining and entertainment, as well as making the area even safer for all transit users and pedestrians. The next public meeting to discuss the plans for Mass Ave Phase 2 is scheduled for September.
