On this segment of Talk of the Town, Niamh O’Connor sits down with Court and Home Liaison in Arlington Public schools and Diversion Coordinator for the town of Arlington, Cindy Sheridan Curran as well as School Resource Officer, Inspector Stephen Porciello. Sheridan Curran and Porciello take us through the early beginnings of the Diversion program in Arlington. They discuss how alternative law enforcement can positively impact the community’s youth. Through discussion based rehabilitation, young offenders can forego a permanent record by completing Sheridan Curran and Porciello’s program. We go over what the program looks like, any misconceptions about alternative law enforcement, and which members of the community would be most eligible.
