Arlington’s fire and police departments were very busy Sunday, January 23rd on Spy Pond. According to fire crews, three skaters fell through thin ice in thee separate incidents and had to be rescued from the frigid waters.
Arlington police were called late Sunday morning after a 50-year-old Cambridge man fell roughly 100 yards off-shore in the area of Hamilton Road. And, according to Fire Chief Kevin Kelley, things went down-hill from there.
Kelley says if you do wish to skate on the pond, which they’d rather not have you do, common sense is paramount.
