Next we look at the invasion of water chestnuts clogging the Mystic River. This invasive species has overproduced in the past few years, taking up oxygen and space for other vital plants and animals. The Mystic Watershed Association has organized volunteers to extract the invasive plant with the goal of halting its spread.
