The Makayla Fund was established after 15-year-old Makayla Guerriero committed suicide in 2012. The mission of the Makayla Fund is to enable teens and their parents to help prevent teen suicide through Public awareness and education, as well as to train middle and high school staff on the SOS (Signs of Suicide) program. The Fund also offers financial assistance to Massachusetts high school athletes in paying their sports fees. Makayla’s mother, Kellie Connors Guerriero, grew up in Arlington and is a 1987 graduate of Arlington High, as are Makayla’s aunt and uncle. Makayla’s grandparents, Jack and Bettie Connors, still live in
Arlington, as does Allyne Perry, a member of the Board of Directors for The Makayla Fund. For more information, please visit TheMakaylaFund.org
