Jane Doe Inc and White Ribbon Day 2015

It is very hard to speak up if you are being abused at home. You feel embarrassed, afraid for your offspring and tied down by the abuser. All that should end. Domestic violence must end. There are many organizations, including Jane Doe Inc., First Step, and Saheli, that offer support to the abused and guidance to the abuser who is willing to change.

Arlington Public News invited two proactive members of the Arlington community into the studio for an in-depth interview on what steps should be taken as individuals and as a society. Elaine Shea, co-founder of First Step in Arlington, described domestic violence and what the community is doing and should do to put an end to such violence, while Craig Norberg-Bohm, coordinator for the Men’s Initiative for Jane Doe Inc., talked about funding and this year’s theme of #ReImagineManhood. Together, they spoke of the upcoming event in the Lyons Hearing Room at Town Hall, where they will screen a TED Talk on this subject and conduct a discussion thereafter.

Please watch the interviews for more information about First Step, Jane Doe Inc., and putting an end to domestic violence.
