In this special edition of ACMi News: as we celebrate Black History Month, we interview Darryl Hill, a man nationally known as “The Jackie Robinson of College Sports.”
Mr. Hill opened the door for all black athletes in college sports in the early ’60’s after attending Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech in August, 1963.
He discusses the triumphs and tragedies he had to endure as the first black athlete to play in the Southern Atlantic Coast Conference. It was an experience that would change the course of college sports forever.
