School Response to George Floyd Killing/Remote Learning Participation Rates

Arlington Public School administrators have responded to the killing of George Floyd while being arrested by Minneapolis police.

In a statement, Superintendent Kathleen Bodie spoke of ongoing staff diversity training and in a video message Arlington High School Principal Matthew Janger said they are not immune to racism, pointing to the work they are doing regarding a disproportionate amount of black students being suspended.

Meanwhile, school administrators continue to deal with the fall-out of the pandemic. At the May 28th School Committee meeting members focused on remote learning participation rates and how that will affect planning for next school year.
