Job Description

The Youth Coordinator will work with schools, educational institutions, cultural organizations, and clubs in Arlington. This person will encourage individuals and organizations to use the ACMI facilities, generate programming for the community and promote a greater understanding of media.

Primary Responsibilities

Coordinate with the Arlington School system to develop media programs in cooperation with ACMI.
Facilitate student, parent, and community volunteer productions of school events and provide Arlington viewers with information about school activities and events via print and electronic media.
Act as liaison with school media professionals, certified teachers, and instructional technologies personnel.
Outreach to all Arlington educational institutions and organizations to develop, produce and promote programming.
Manage and schedule ACMI’s Studio B located opposite Arlington High School to teach production classes.

Position Duties

Facilitate the coverage of activities and events of K-12 schools including sports, performing arts and student produced programs.
Provide training workshops for students and faculty in the use of video production and editing equipment at ACMI facilities or portable equipment workshops at the school or organization’s location.
Develop media workshops and programs for students and community volunteers, enabling them to use diverse media for various school projects and events.
Develop and maintain communication with youth members by utilizing all current social media.
Provide oversight coverage of community volunteer and student staffed school events.
Supervise and coordinate intern activities.
Produce or assist in ACMI productions as needed.

Desired Qualifications

Must be highly energetic, reliable, confident and enjoy working with youth.
Degree in Media Arts/Television or four years of progressive responsible experience in a media production environment.
Familiar with community access television.
Production teaching experience, primarily in small-groups.
Strong experience with video production equipment in studio and field environments and editing systems such as Final Cut-Pro or Adobe.
Proven ability to motivate a variety of students, individuals and groups in a positive learning environment.
Diplomatic and tactful communication skills. Friendly and adaptable.
Functions well under time pressures. Capable of working independently.
Excellent communications skills; verbal and written.
Ability to work independently and also as part of a cooperative team.
Valid driver’s license and vehicle to transport equipment.
Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
Must pass CORI check.

Compensation

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
